This is the 25th year my mom has been a mom, so my siblings and I decided to splurge for her gift. We got her a mother's ring. It's white gold, with real gems for our birthstones: citrine for me (November), white sapphire for Chris (April—a true gemstone, although not a diamond), and blue topaz for Kate (December). It's fairly simple, but elegant that way, and it doesn't stick out far from her finger, but it is awfully sparkly! Dave and I went to Omaha yesterday to celebrate Mother's Day with her and my family, since he has to work on Sunday and wouldn't be able to make it. I'll be going home again then, though, of course. ;)
Today is my little sister's birthday! She turns 19. Sigh to be that young again. :) Have a happy birthday Lizabrat Lizzy! Click read more for some embarassing pictures of her (and possibly me)...
Tonight was awesome! I took an unusual route home after work in the hopes that Jenny would be heading home at the same time, and we met at an intersection facing each other! Sometimes we are too cute. She got to follow me the rest of the way home. :) We spontaneously decided to go see Iron Man at the downtown Grand theatre since it was releasing tonight. There was an early 9 PM showing and a midnight "official" release. We got tickets online for the 9 PM showing since we're old and we wouldn't have to worry about it selling out. For some reason movietickets.com was offering two different 'Adult' ticket prices: one for $8.50 and one for $6.50. I'm guessing one was supposed to be a student or matinee discount not available for that showing, but I still ordered the cheaper ones. :)
Jenny and I had a fun day today. We woke up late in the morning, had orange danish together. She went to tutor while I had fun programming (I've been on such a roll with programming lately). When she got back, we took our big coin jar to Wells Fargo to have it counted. Major thanks to the nice teller on duty who had to lift our jar over the counter and then pour the entire jar out into the machine, which we both wish we could have seen in action. Out of all of the coins in the jar, only one was a foreign coin and didn't count.
So are you ready for the results? Jenny and I were both thinking around $250-275. Click 'read more' for the results! Drumroll please...

So we've been saving our spare coins in a fairly large jar for the past two years or so. Today I finally filled it up. Most of it is actually quarters and golden dollars, so it's a pretty decent chunk of change. On Wednesday I'll probably take it to Wells Fargo to get it counted and deposited so we can start again!
So here's our little contest for you all: how much do you think is in the jar? The closest to the actual total gets some kind of cool prize that I haven't thought of yet. You have until the end of April (4/30) to guess, so register for an account (if you haven't already) and get guessing in the comments below! For a more detailed view, you can click on the image of the coin jar.
I could not stop laughing during these clips from last Saturday's SNL:
Jenny's sister needs to see this...
...to "Current Resident." That way, every time we get junk mail addressed to "[Random Name] or Current Resident" I can feel special. If Hannah Montana can do it, I don't think it'd be that hard! :)
Welcome to our little website! It's still under construction, but make yourself cozy and create an account while you're here. :)
