Athena

It occurred to me that the last mention we made of our kitten on this blog was before we even brought her home! This must be remedied! Plenty of pictures after the jump!

Athena came home with us on May 17th, when she was 9 weeks old. We went to Norfolk to get her and her brother, Perseus, who now lives with my coworker, Rose. Athena is a dark gray with subtle gray stripes on her legs and tail. Very subtle - you can only see them in some lights, because they're just darker shades of gray. She has yellowish-green eyes which are absolutely stunning in the sunlight. She's pretty neurotic (only to be expected, a family member of ours). She scratches in her litter box in a pattern, has to sit on my left during car rides, and has to explore everything before she can even think about playing or anything else. She's very vocal when she feels she isn't getting enough attention! She's a lot like a puppy - she chases her tail, plays fetch, and begs for people food. Athena gets more affectionate every day. She just recently started greeting us when we come home, rubbing against our legs and purring. She also has started giving me what seem to be the equivalent of hugging for kittens - she stops playing, comes running into my lap, butts her head against my face, begging to be petted, then runs away, purring all the while. She is our spoiled baby, and she knows it!

Athena is just over 3 months old, and it feels like she's gotten so big already. Here are some of our favorite pictures of her:

We're so happy to be owned by such a wonderful, lovable kitty.
