"We should read to give our souls a chance to luxuriate." ~ Henry Miller

Yet another thunderstormy day.  It was very difficult to wake up this morning.  I had to be to work at 8 a.m., and I dragged myself out of bed at 7:10.  Still had time for breakfast, librarything, and a shower, too.

I've finished three books since Sunday.  The first, Kushiel's Dart, I'd been working on for about a week.  After I finished that Sunday afternoon, I read Stargirl from cover to cover, and then I read Shug on my breaks at work yesterday, finishing it late last night.  (All of those links are to librarything where you can read my reviews.)  I started Waiting for Normal this morning.  I'm giving the fantasy genre a bit of a break—I didn't dislike Kushiel's Dart per se, but it certainly wasn't the best I've read—and sticking to kid's books for a while.  It's refreshing.  I'll get back to fantasy soon enough (I'm looking forward to Elantris, actually), but I think I might detour into historical fiction before that.  I'm going to try very hard to only read the (many many) books I already have in the house, instead of going to the library or buying more (especially the latter).

Dave and I bought the show Arrested Development on dvd recently, and just finished watching the series last night.  It's excellent.  And I'm so disappointed that it's cancelled!  Stupid Fox.  They don't know something good when they have it (*cough* Firefly *cough*).  It's such a funny show.  I'm thinking about just having it play while I clean the apartment tonight, hehe.  I can't wait to lend the dvds to my parents; I think they'll like it.

Speaking of parentals, Dave and I are going up to South Dakota for the fourth, and my parents are coming, too!  Our parents will finally meet each other.  Only mildly nervous.  It should be good.

Well, I should scrounge up some leftovers for dinner and try not to fall asleep while I wait for Dave to get home from work.

Bon soir, mes amis!
